Digital ink-jet prints are a recent very experimental development in my work and allow me to utilize a growing archive of photographs I have taken on many visits to India and other parts of the world. Photographs have always served as both reference and a departure point for my paintings although in the final piece the original images are merged into a complete whole. In my digital works, the integrity of the individual surfaces, places, fragments and figures are layered and blended in a manner that preserves their distinctiveness while placing them in either a clarifying or destabilizing context. The process itself is one more of discovery where meaning is often realized through the process.
